Program Areas

Since we adopted our strategic plan in 2002, we have clarified our focus on how to achieve our mission. First, every Californian must have access to quality health services. Second, our health care system must be culturally competent to respond to the diversity and demographic changes in our state. Third, we must eliminate the disparities in health and strengthen communities to become healthy places to live.

Based on these convictions, we have organized our work around three goals:

Expansion of Health Insurance in California Unlikely to Act as Magnet for Undocumented Immigration

A new research brief issued by the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and funded by The California Endowment showed that any new expansions of health insurance are unlikely to attract additional undocumented immigrants to the state.

Latino Health and Science Career Connections: May 2007

With a grant from The California Endowment, the San Diego Science Alliance prepared a report, Latino Health and Science Career Connections, that examines the needs, resources and untapped potential of health and medical academies in San Diego County. 

Regional Offices of The California Endowment

The California Endowment maintains a regional approach to grant making and has offices throughout the state. With this commitment to a regional presence, The Endowment has program staff actively working in local communities to identify, support and partner with community-based organizations.
