    Welcome to The California Endowment's 2007 to 2008 Annual Report: Focus on Prevention.
    This annual report features six videos. The first video is a message from the President and CEO
    Robert K. Ross, M.D. and Board Chair Daniel Boggan introducing the 2007 to 2008 annual report.
    The other videos detail the extraordinary work of five of The California Endowment's recent grantees.
    Here is a brief description of the five grantees:
    Grantee 1: California State University, Fresno and The Central California Regional Obesity Prevention program.
    Program Summary: This project supports an obesity prevention partnership to improve the social and physical
    environments for healthy nutrition and physical activity through advocacy and policy activities in the San
    Joaquin Valley.
    Grantee 2: NALEO Education Fund and the California Health Leadership Program.
    Program Summary: The acronym NALEO stands for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials.
    This project provides education and training to help California Latino elected and appointed officials.
    Grantee 3: SAJE and the Slumlord Criminalization and Health Impact Project.
    Program Summary: SAJE acronym stands for the Strategic Actions for a Just Economy.
    This project helps address the health impacts of slum housing in downtown and south Los Angeles.
    Grantee 4: The Maternal Outreach Management System and their VietMOMS program.
    Program Summary: This project helps plan and develop culturally appropriate health care coordination, education
    and access to community services for low-income Vietnamese mothers and babies in Orange County.
    Grantee 5: The Center for Healthy Communities, A Resource for Nonprofits.
    Program Summary: The California Endowment’s Center for Healthy Communities currently offers a variety of
    public programs and trainings, as well as conference center facilities in downtown Los Angeles.
