Community-Based Public Health
Community-Based Public Health work is designed to create broad and sustainable efforts to reduce disparities in health by increasing the capacity of the public health system to serve communities and address the broad social determinants of health.
Within this area, partnerships between public health departments and community groups have been formed to jointly identify local health issues, develop intervention strategies, and mobilize action and resources to promote community health. Building from the early successes of the partnerships, community-based public health work will focus on improving the understanding of public health; creating local, state and national policies that support community-based public health; and increasing collaborative activities between communities and public health departments to address health disparities.
