The Center’s programs take place in Los Angeles and across the state and foster deeper engagement with communities throughout California to achieve long-term, sustained change.

Health ExChange Academy

| The Health ExChange Academy is the Center for Healthy Communities’ signature capacity-building program. It comprises a series of in-person training courses that increase participants’ knowledge about and skills and abilities in advocacy, communications, evaluation and primary prevention. Each module is approximately three hours long and may be offered alone or added to a collaborative meeting, conference, or outreach session. Attendees may participate regardless of past experience and attendance, and meals are complimentary. |

A three-course curriculum designed to introduce participants to the field of public health policy and advocacy including coursework on issue framing, agenda setting, and advocacy planning.
A seven-course curriculum designed to prepare health advocates to engage the media strategically to improve community health.
A two-course curriculum designed to help participants understand the underlying causes of poor health and craft solutions that can transform unhealthy environments into healthy ones.

CenterScene Public Programs

| CenterScene is a wide-ranging series of public programs organized by the Center for Healthy Communities. These panel discussions, speaker series, film screenings, and related programs take place at the Los Angeles headquarters and allow participants to better understand the crucial health issues facing California communities and to meet and network with others interested in building the dialogue and action around better health. |
