On November 3rd, 2016, The California Endowment hosted local community leaders and organizations to celebrate the health and resilience of Los Angeles’ vibrant Native American community. The program focused on civic engagement, youth empowerment, identity, and LA’s indigenous past, present, and future.
The program included a panel conversation featuring Native professionals and artists sharing their insights on how youth can build healthy futures connected to their rich cultural heritage and traditions. The evening continued with an exciting array of poetry, dance, guest speakers, musical performances by Stephanie Mushrush, Artson, and Quese IMC, and an art installation featuring local Native artists Pamela Peters, Jaque Fragua, Craig George, Votan Henriquez and Arigon Starr.
It was a powerful event that lifted up the voices of LA’s strong, healthy and resilient Native community!
