New Partnership Engages the Diversity of Sacramento Region and Highlights Importance of Access to Health Coverage
Sacramento, Calif., (April 15, 2015) – Sacramento Republic FC and The California Endowment are excited to announce their partnership and collaborative efforts to promote wellness, including highlighting the importance that everyone – regardless of immigration status – has access to quality, affordable health coverage. The partnership kicks off tonight, April 15, with a #Health4All celebration night at Bonney Field during the Republic FC v Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 match. The match will feature giveaways to fans in attendance and a special halftime presentation honoring four community members who are working on the frontlines to raise awareness about the need for expanded health care services for the undocumented in Sacramento County.
“We’ve seen firsthand how gaining access to health care can make a transformative difference in people’s lives,” said Maricela Rodriguez, a California Endowment program manager. “We believe it’s a basic human right and we are thrilled to have Sacramento Republic FC offer such a diverse and important platform to share this message.”
The California Endowment and Republic FC will be engaging youth across Sacramento schools through a variety of outreach efforts coordinated through Sacramento Building Healthy Communities. During the 2015 season, Republic FC will host three free youth soccer clinics, as well as offer two VIP experiences for young people, with access to players and coaches. Furthermore, 500 donated tickets will be awarded to youth throughout the 2015 USL season as an incentive to live healthy lifestyles.
“We pride ourselves as being a club for all, celebrating the diversity of our great region, which is why we are proud to partner with The California Endowment,” said Republic FC President Warren Smith. “Everyone should be able to lead healthy lives and we believe #Health4All will resonate with our fans.”
The partnership will also incorporate other Endowment campaigns such as #DoTheMath and efforts to raise awareness about the negative effects of junk food.

About The California Endowment
The California Endowment, a private, statewide health foundation, was established in 1996 to expand access to, quality health care for underserved individuals and communities, and to promote fundamental affordable improvements in the health status of all Californians. Headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, The Endowment has regional offices in Sacramento, Oakland, Fresno and San Diego, with program staff working throughout the state. The Endowment challenges the conventional wisdom that medical settings and individual choices are solely responsible for people’s health. Through its ‘Health Happens Here’ campaign and ten-year initiative for Building Healthy Communities, The Endowment is creating places where children are healthy, safe and ready to learn. At its core, The Endowment believes that health happens in neighborhoods, schools, and with prevention. For more information, visit The California Endowment’s homepage at www.calendow.org.
The California Endowment’s #Health4All campaign highlights the important contributions of undocumented Californians to our state’s communities and economy, while raising awareness of their lack of access to affordable health care coverage. Though the Affordable Care Act has helped millions of Californians gain health insurance, over 1.4 million undocumented Californians will remain uninsured. Undocumented Californians are students, mothers, fathers, neighbors and community members. Together, they contribute $300 billion to our state’s economy and are an essential part of the workforce. The #Health4All campaign is helping to drive a dialogue to move our health care system to one that is inclusive of all Californians, regardless of their immigration status.
