For #BlackHistoryMonth the California Endowment is exploring the Black experience in America through the lens of a young Black woman. Using a series of comic book strips stemming from the tragic untimely death of Stephon Clark from Sacramento, CA, we’re amplifying how #BlackLivesMatter. It is March, 19th, 2018 when Dayanna gets a news notification on her phone 📲- the night before, two police officers gunned down an unarmed 22-year-old named Stephon Clark in his grandparents’ home. The crime had occurred in her hometown of Sacramento, CA.
