“I only want to belong in California where everyone else also belongs. I want to make sure that there's space for everybody to be themselves, to thrive, to be valued and to be loved. That's the only California I want to be a part of.”

“I think it's my responsibility to change the system so that everybody does have an opportunity to thrive in their community.”

“We can have, as we do in California, an amazing, diverse, beautiful group of residents, but if we don't have a system that's going to support them all, it kind of falls flat.”
